The user documentation

In IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm version 9.60 and earlier, the user documentation came in two formats:

  • PDF files, accessible from the Help menu in the IDE

  • Microsoft HTML Help 1.0 (CHM) format, available both from the Help menu in the IDE and by pressing F1 on the keyboard, to get context-sensitive help.

In version 9.70 and later, the primary user documentation is in HTML5 format and located at docs.iar.com on the web. Context-sensitive help is still available by pressing F1. For offline use, there is also a snapshot of the user documentation in the state it was when the product was built, in the arm\doc\html directory. It is a compressed file with the name HTML_Help.zip. The version found at docs.iar.com is continuously updated with clarifications and corrected errors.

PDF files are still available from the Help menu in the IDE, but are considered a secondary format.
